What Should Be In A S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Series
Within a month, we’ve gone from hearing about the possibility of such a project to the reveal Whedon was involved and now we know what the potential series actually will be – S.H.I.E.L.D.
ABC have ordered a pilot, which Whedon will co-write and likely direct and it would be incredibly surprising if the network didn’t go forward with a series after all it’s by the filmmaker that wrote and directed the biggest film of 2012 and one of the highest grossing films of all time and the series itself will be linked to the film series.
There are good and bad parts with this news but lets start with the bad and build up to the good.
No Fury, Hill or Coulson
Samuel L Jackson will most likely be busy making films to be part of the cast as a regular but there is hope that he is at least present for the pilot and then goes on to become a recurring character. With Cobie Smulders as Mariah Hill the problem remains that How I Met Your Mother is still running. At this time she is filming for Series 8 which will go into May 2013 and despite the series being slated to start Fall 2013 there is huge speculation that whilst nobody is tied down to a ninth series as of yet it does seem likely that there will be one. Coulson on the other hand has the problem of being dead and had he managed to survive Avengers it would have been awesome to see him a part of the cast.
There are other high profile S.H.I.E.L.D. agents such as Sharon Carter who will likely make an apperance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier who could make her debut as an agent then onto forming a relationship with Chris Evan’s Cap.
Things get really interesting when you consider some of the costumed superhero characters whose history is tied into S.H.I.E.L.D., such as Wendell Vaughn (Quasar), Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) and Bobbi Morse (Mockingbird). These types of characters could all be introduced as normal agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., whose superhero origin could be held for whenever the time is right. Even Daisy Johnson is a possible addition as in current continuity she is the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. could see her rising through the ranks.
Other MARVEL Heroes
Now that the rights to Daredevil are going back to MARVEL Matt Murdock could be a possible introduction of if not Daredevil but Matt Murdock.
Even people like Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Damage Control or Runaways could make appearances down the line.
