Marvel and Netflix Team Up to Bring Heroes to TV

In an announcement reminiscent of an issue of Marvel Team-Up, Netflix and Marvel have announced plans to bring a bevy of Marvel heroes to the small screen in 2015.

Netflix announced today that it has brokered a deal with Marvel to create four ongoing series and one mini-series to the streaming service, starting with Daredevil in 2015. Following the TV debut of ol’ Hornhead, the next three series will star Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, respectively.

These four series, which will be 13 episodes each, will culminate in a mini-series entitled “The Defenders”, presumably based on the classic super-team.

Alan Fine, president of Marvel Entertainment, said in a statement, “This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel’s brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling.”

Great news for comic book fans. Presumably, Marvel will next be announcing an web series starring the Black Cat, and then further announcing a public radio series starring the Great Lakes Avengers, then their take over of all media will be complete!
