NYCC ’13: Black Widow Ongoing Announced

Over the past few years Black Widow’s popularity has increased thanks to Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal on the big screen. It is even more important to note that with people making the demand for more female led titles that Marvel are responding appropriately.

What can I say except, finally! It’s been months since Mercy’s first appearance in this series, and finally Charles Soule has given us a deeper look into just who exactly this woman is. It may not be the complete answer, though I do have my guesses, but it’s definitely a start.

I’m not going to bury the lead on you here folks. Maybe I’m just feeling extra cynical at the moment, but this one is not good. I wish that it was. I feel deep inside that it should be, that it could be. But it’s not.

Alright, I think we’re going to file this one away under “Ok, that was…interesting.” I’m not sure I can really find a better word to describe the Thunderbolts #10, the penultimate chapter in the book’s current storyline.

After perhaps the best issue of the current run a few weeks ago, the Thunderbolts team seems to have hit an unfortunate stumbling block. That’s not to say its a particularly bad issue, more that it was just a bit of a let down after how happy I was with the previous issue.
